Vision 2026

Vision 2026 - VISION 2026 28 jun

Vision 2026 represents a pivotal 30-month capital campaign, running from April 15, 2024, to our 15th anniversary on October 15, 2026. The initiative is focused on achieving three key goals:

• Maintaining 28. Jun’s status as one of the leading humanitarian organizations in Eastern Europe.

• Sustaining 28. Jun’s position as one of the premier lobbying organizations in the Western Balkans.

• Expanding 28. Jun’s role as an international disaster relief organization.

We will be allocating $6 million over the next 3 years to special projects aimed at achieving our goals. These projects will focus on key areas such as supporting vulnerable groups (children, women, and the elderly), addressing poverty and housing issues, improving healthcare and the environment, promoting sports and culture, and enhancing the economy and animal welfare.

We consider it our obligation to leverage our unique capabilities to take our mission to the next level during this period. This project stands as our most ambitious endeavor yet and will culminate in our 10th-anniversary Christmas project in the winter of 2026. We hope for your support as we strive to achieve the extraordinary before our 15th year.

Fostering Educational Equality: Our ‘Back to School’ Initiative’s Impact and Partnerships

Fostering Educational Equality: Our 'Back to School' Initiative's Impact and Partnerships - 1b

In the current year, our ‘Back to School’ initiative manifested as a strategic investment in education, realized through the provision of laptops to educational institutions spanning the regional landscape. Our project’s fruition was significantly propelled by a collaboration with the AO Foundation, an esteemed organization that recognized our contributions and chose to join forces in extending the invaluable gift of education to underserved children. We express our deepest gratitude for their unwavering support, trust, and benevolence. The collective value of the laptops, generously bestowed upon various schools, nearly reaches the remarkable sum of $130,000.

Education, a pivotal catalyst for both social and economic advancement, assumes a central role in our mission. Notably, there exist students who are without access to personal computing devices or internet connectivity within their households. By supplying laptops to educational institutions, we have diligently endeavoured to rectify this disparity, fostering an equitable educational environment wherein every student, irrespective of their socioeconomic circumstances, is bestowed with an equal opportunity to excel academically.

Our multifaceted project encompassed the distribution of laptops to schools situated in Southern Serbia, Vojvodina, Kosovo i Metohija, and Bosnia. Furthermore, additional deliveries under this project are currently in progress, and we pledge to furnish you with comprehensive updates upon their successful conclusion.

Empathy in Action: A Humanitarian Milestone from Serbia to Syria

The Serbian populace is well acquainted with the profound challenges imposed by sanctions and the experience of being left without international assistance in the wake of natural disasters. Our steadfast conviction lies in prioritizing the welfare of ordinary individuals over political considerations.

Empathy in Action: A Humanitarian Milestone from Serbia to Syria - 11

With these principles in mind, we have dedicated extensive efforts over the past several months to execute our most substantial charitable initiative beyond the Western Balkans. In conjunction with our esteemed partners, we are currently in the final stages of orchestrating the most significant humanitarian aid delivery from the United States to Syria since the onset of the conflict.

To ensure the safety and security of this endeavor, we shall withhold the specifics of the project until its successful conclusion. We appreciate your continued interest and encourage you to remain engaged for forthcoming updates.

2022 Annual Report

2022 Annual Report - 2 1

Dear Friends,

In 2022 we doubled our previous record and donated nearly $3.1 million. In 2023, with your help, our aim is to double it again. Our organization did not use your outpouring of generosity to increase salaries or stash funds for a rainy day. All resources were put right back into our communities to help the most needy. We are facing unprecedented times, extreme poverty and income inequality in Serbia are at their worst since our movement was founded. To counter this, we will commit $2.8 million to urgent projects supporting families, communities, our institutions, and our environment. In 2022 we surpassed 3.4 followers on our social media and mailing list. We will leverage this network to spread the Serbian spirit of generosity home and abroad. Additionally, we will establish a permanent presence by opening our first office in Belgrade in order to be even more engaged with challenges on the ground. Serbia and the world have never needed us more. Everything leading up to this year has prepared us for the next chapter of our movement and we are excited to rise to the challenges together!

In Gratitude,

FILIP FILIPI (PRESIDENT) & SNEZANA DIMITRIJEVIC (VICE PRESIDENT)

At first glance you would never assume that Julijana (9) and Sofija (6) Stojanovic have lived the hardest lives we have ever seen. Our first family of 2023 is a story of hope, bravery, and survival.

We are greeted by two girls who are shy but welcoming, clean but visibly dressed in hand-me-down clothes. They invite us into their home which is literally falling apart around them. However, our volunteers are stunned by the cleanliness of their modest house. In their young lives they have already seen more suffering than most do in a lifetime. First, the deaths of their beloved uncle and grandfather, followed by unimaginable abuse by their father who abandoned them shortly after.

The two girls live with their mother Ivana and grandmother Ljubica in the village of Rutevac, near Aleksinac. Their uncle hung himself and soon after, unable to cope with the grief of losing his only son, their grandfather also took his own life. They found no support in the only other man in their lives, their father. The girls and their mother were mentally and physically abused by him so severely that the police intervened with a restraining order.

The immense stress worsened their grandmother’s health, who already suffered from near blindness and difficulty moving. They live on social assistance and child allowance, a miserly total of $250 a month. They have no water besides a pump inside the house, but even that water is not drinkable. There is no indoor toilet or kitchen and they have never seen a washing machine. The family has never owned a TV so the girls go around the neighborhood to watch cartoons.

Despite the cards dealt to these heroic women, this remains a story of hope. We were moved by their immense love for each other and we promised Julijana and Sofija to return soon with help. Ivana, the girls’ courageous mother, survived domestic violence while mourning the loss of her dad and brother, but she needs us to keep going. We need to be there for her so she can continue to be there for her girls and their grandmother.

Our plan is to immediately provide clean water, an indoor toilet, kitchen, furniture, fridge and washing machine to this exhausted family. But we cannot do it without you, please donate generously:

We can’t forget Syria!

We can't forget Syria! - IG Facebook Fundraiser Template Post 5 1

International aid must reach north-western Syria as soon as possible. In Syria, the earthquake came on top of existing emergencies. Years of war, a dire economic situation, the COVID-19 pandemic, and most recently, an outbreak of cholera had already plunged the region into a humanitarian crisis and pushed medical facilities to the brink!

According to the UN, over 80,000 search and rescue personnel are in Turkey. Due to sanctions and international isolation, Syria has only a small fraction of that with just 5% of earthquake-affected sites being covered. We believe politics should not hinder humanitarian assistance and this is why we plan to send the first medical and disaster relief aid from North America to Syria. The US government has lifted sanctions on humanitarian aid for 180 days giving us a window to help those who most need it now.

We have received lists of items most needed from doctors treating the wounded in the disaster area and are working to secure as many of them as possible. Our goal is to send the relief container before the end of the month. This gives us enough time to collect as much life-saving medical aid as possible while being able to deliver in time to make a difference. Please donate, share, or contact us to coordinate on where you can send supplies the medical workers desperately need. Let’s come together to show the Syrian people we have not forgotten them.

Project Partners: 28. Jun is an international humanitarian organization in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations. Founded in 2012, to date we have delivered 250 tons of humanitarian, medical, financial and disaster relief aid worth $12.8 million to the Western Balkans and other parts of the world. Founded in 2021, as a subdivision of the Ascend Agency, ‘Ascend Gives Back’ is a Los Angeles-based philanthropic program that offers support to non-profit organizations, in causes ranging from wildlife conservation to suicide prevention.

We have entered phase three – building the roof – on the Church of the Jasenovac Holy Martyrs in Medjuvodje. A portion of funds needed to proceed is still missing, so we have launched a billboard and commercial campaign in Republika Srpska and have a number (1414) residents of Bosnia can call to make a 1 KM donation.

Many people may be surprised to learn that despite several attempts, there is no Church in the area dedicated to the martyrs, many of whom were children, of the death camp. This is why 28. Jun and our partners will build the first Church in the Banja Luka diocese dedicated to victims of the Jasenovac concentration camp.

Please join us in honoring the martyrdom of Serbian men, women and children who perished on these grounds by supporting this important project.

Srbi za Srpske veterane: Najtuznija prica godine

Srbi za Srpske veterane: Najtuznija prica godine - IG Horizontal Post Logo Hidden2

Dragi prijatelji,

Molim vas hajde da zajedničkim snagama pomognemo Vojislavu i njegovoj porodici! Jer mi to možemo!

Dear Friends,

We hope you don’t mind us reaching out for your help for the very last time in 2022.

Father Perica, mother Snezana and son Vojislav from Prokuplje all live in one dark, inhumane room. To make things more tragic, Perica is a war veteran who fought for our country first in Croatia, then in Bosnia and finally in Kosovo. He returned home suffering from severe psychological problems which took a toll on his overall health. His wife Snezana is also seriously ill, suffering from brain and thyroid cancer. She has already had one operation and the second is scheduled. As their cursed fate would have it, 14-year-old son Vojislav too, has a serious health condition. He underwent surgery twice, first on his abdomen and a second time on his stomach.

After seeing everything there is to see in 11 years of humanitarian work, we were convinced that there is not a case which can still shock us. However, we have never seen the system fail a family like it failed the Stojanovic family. They survive on $120 which they receive every second month. Even though he is sick, Perica tries to do what he has done his whole life, which is protect others. This is why he takes side jobs for as little as $5 to support his family. Since their home burned down years ago, they have lived in one moldy room with no hot water, but with their income they are forced to skip meals and can’t even begin to dream of fixing their home.

Are we going to let this family welcome Christmas without a bathroom or hot water? Perica sacrificed his health protecting us, now we must protect him and his family. Our plan is to begin immediate renovation of their home so they can welcome Christmas with dignity and that we can give Vojislav some resemblance of a childhood. Can Perica and his family count on you? Please help now.
