28. Jun Presents Djokovic with Award

unnamed

International humanitarian organization, 28. Jun, presented Jelena and Novak Djokovic with a 5th anniversary award at the Djokovic Foundation’s Giorgio Armani hosted gala in Milan last night. It recognized Djokovic’s support of 28. Jun’s maiden humanitarian project ‘Boj za Kosovo’ in 2011. The project turned out to be a huge success and $1.5 mil of humanitarian aid was delivered to Serbs in Kosovo i Metohija, launching the then newborn movement onto the humanitarian scene.

28. Jun, which is celebrating its 5th anniversary in October, went on to deliver 170 tons of humanitarian, medical and disaster relief aid worth over $4.4 mil to the Western Balkans. This is the first of five such awards which will recognize significant contributors to the success of the organization. 28. Jun president and founder Filip Filipi Jankovic stated: “It was an honor to be invited to such an event to celebrate the work of our colleagues in our fight to make Serbia a better place for future generations.”

Internacionalna humanitarna organizacija 28.

28. Jun holds 300th Event, Passes 250,000 Fans on Facebook!

International humanitarian organization, 28. Jun, reached two significant milestones this week! On Friday, we held our 300th event since our formation in 2011, it took place in Chicago and we were extremely happy with the turnout and community support. 28. Jun members have worked tirelessly holding fundraisers and awareness events in over 120 cities across 30 countries over the past 5 years. On Tuesday, we passed 250,000 Fans on our Facebook page, giving us a reach of over half a million people when combined with our other social media platforms and our mailing list.

With such achievements, comes great responsibility and accountability to our supporters, which we take very seriously, this is why for FULL TRANSPARENCY we have now updated the blog section of our official website https://28jun.org/blog/ and included all our humanitarian deliveries since 2011. Additionally, even more detailed documentation of every delivery has been added to the ‘Albums‘ section of our official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/28jun/photos/?tab=albums

28. Jun’s audited financials, prepared by an independent accounting firm and an independent appraiser in Canada, in concert with an audit oversight committee, can be viewed/downloaded on: https://28jun.org/transparency/ Lastly, because we operate in regions where the stigma of corruption and clientelism is rampant, we are in the process of partnering with PwC’s Global X Assessor division. The Swiss-based firm uses the latest technology and innovation to appraise the quality of our humanitarian work through analytics, real time assessment of our projects, monitoring, and reporting while significantly reducing the cost of our administrative work.

We pride ourselves on our efficient management of resources, for every $1 donated to 28. Jun, we have delivered $28 worth of humanitarian aid to needy families and communities. We are the only WHS-affiliated organization working in the Western Balkans and we are privileged to have formed lasting partnerships with the Red Cross and the UN.

28. Jun Joins Emir Kusturia for Hidden Holocaust Project

unnamed

28. Jun, the largest Serbian diaspora organization, will be responsible for the marketing and branding of an Emir Kusturica-backed exhibition about Jasenovac entitled ‘Hidden Holocaust’. As reported in the Serbian and Russian media, the art exhibit will be held at the United Nations in New York on Holocaust Remembrance Day which falls on April 23, 2017. 28. Jun will partner with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, the Andric Institute, the University of Belgrade and the Jasenovac Research Institute, on what promises to be largest exposé on the concentration camp ever organized in the West. Over 500,000 Serbs, 40,000 Roma, 33,000 Jews and 127,000 Anti-Fascists, including many Croats, were executed in the camp complex from 1941 to 1945.

28. Jun plans to counter the rise of extremism and anti-Serbism which has swept Croatia since the formation of the new nationalist government. The organization led the Oluja remembrance march in Belgrade last Friday, forced the leading German dictionary to redefine ‘Ustase’ two weeks ago and successfully completed the digital #NoKosovoUnesco campaign in late 2015 . In addition to its anti-defamation projects, 28. Jun is the largest Serbian humanitarian organization in the world, having delivered $4.6 mil worth of aid to Serbs throughout the Balkans since 2011.

Duden Changes Their Dictionary Definition

unnamed

Exactly one week after 28. Jun petitioned Duden, the leading dictionary in the German language, to change their definition of ‘Ustasa‘ from ‘freedom fighter’ to ‘genocidal fascist’ they have made the change!

The online edition has already been updated and we received an email from Duden saying all future print version will also have the new definition. Additionally, Duden apologized to all those effected by Ustase war crimes during WWII and their subsequent terrorism from the 1970s to 1990s.

28. Jun would wish to thank the Serbian Embassy in Germany, Ambassador Ljiljana Niksic, Vukman Krivokuca – Director for the Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and our partners the Israeli organization StandWithUs for contributing to our efforts.

On top of of our humanitarian work, we are also the leading Diaspora organization which battles anti-Serbian defamation in the media. We successfully lead the global #NoKosovoUnesco campaign in late 2015 but our work in this field goes back to 2011 when we made American talk show host Chelsea Lately lose sponsorships over her xenophobic comments against Serbs.
