28. Jun’s Holiday Fundraiser 2021

For most of us, the Christmas holidays bring back our happiest childhood memories. Unfortunately, tens of thousands of children won’t have a chance to make these memories. Jovana and Milos are two of the 115,000 children in Serbia who live in absolute poverty. For them, the Christmas Holidays are not about presents but about survival.

Poverty and hunger do not disappear during the Holidays — for children with disabilities, for children living in orphanages and for children growing up in enclaves of Kosovo and Metohija, they magnify their already dire situations.

These kids do not have food to eat, winter clothes to keep them warm, a bed to sleep on and a roof over their heads to keep them safe. Along with gifts, we want to provide them with much needed food and supplies to make their Christmas Season a little warmer.

For the 5th year running, we are making these children and their families our priority. However, we can’t do this without you, the children are counting on your support now more than ever.

28. Jun will work with experts to prepare the Serbia Environmental Report for the United Nations

Of the myriad of environmental problems in Serbia, we are most concerned with the proposed Rio Tinto-operated Jadar lithium mine. As reported by The Guardian, Rio Tinto executives told EU officials that the development of the mine will begin after the March 2022 elections in Serbia. This amounts to strategic manipulation of Serbia’s democratic process by foreign corporations and governments.

As the regional implementation leader of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda in the Western Balkans, 28. Jun is obliged to communicate on the deteriorating ecological situation and its potential for humanitarian crisis. We will use our Special Consultative Status with the United Nations to enlist, organize and shape public support of necessary policy changes to benefit the people of Serbia.

Our report will be submitted to the United Nations, the Serbian Ministry of Environmental Protection and made public before the March 2022 elections. In addition to the communiqué, 28. Jun will make contributions in support of environmental projects to both municipal governments and civil society organizations in Serbia. Our foray into the battle to protect our land, air and water begins immediately.

28. Jun Returns to UN in New York and Geneva

28. Jun’s delegation returned to the United Nations in New York for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic began. The town hall meeting, hosted by Abdulla Shahid, President of the UN General Assembly, was the first in-person event to be held for civil society organizations this year.

In his address Mr. Shahid stated “As President of the United Nations General Assembly for this 76th session, I have chosen the theme of ‘hope’ and have selected five priorities to help usher in a more responsive and inclusive multilateral system. These priorities include recovering from COVID-19, rebuilding sustainably, responding to the needs of the planet, respecting the rights of all, and revitalizing the United Nations.”

The previous week, our Swiss UN delegation attended Geneva Peace Week in the humanitarian capital of the world— Geneva, Switzerland. ⁣They had the honor of hearing the former president of Liberia and Nobel Laureate, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, give a moving speech on the topic of peace.

28. Jun is committed to becoming the regional implementation leader of the SDG agenda in this world-defining decade, through our continued work with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

10-Year Report

On October 17, 2011, we watched the unfair treatment of people peacefully protesting for access to basic needs— food, medical facilities, justice— and decided to use our privileged positions to join their brave fight.

On July 31, 2012 our spontaneous, student-led movement to make this world a little easier for communities in need, took a leap forward and incorporated as a Canadian Not-for-profit.

10 years on, we have organically grown into a world-class humanitarian organization and want to share with you the challenges and achievements that enabled us to make a difference in the region many of us call home.

Patriarch Porfirije Joins Us in Hosting 30 Scholars from Glina

His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije and MP Sanja Lakic joined us in hosting our young scholars from Earthquake-ravaged Glina in Belgrade this weekend. The total number of “Nikola Tesla” scholarships we awarded this year, our third, was 30. We are grateful for the exceptional cooperation it took to organize the reception of our students — a memory they will cherish for years to come.

Back to School Project 2021

We receive a large amount of pleas from parents asking for the most basic school supplies (notebooks, pencils, backpacks) throughout the year and it only increases in September. Last year we did all we could through our numerous educational initiatives and this year we want to do even more.

9 Years Marked with Successful First Half of 2021!

Today we mark 9 years since our registration on 31 July 2012 and the official start of our mission to genuinely assist those in need.

In the first half of 2021, we focused on disaster relief helping with both the floods in Pirot and earthquake recovery in Glina. We made donations to children with cerebral palsy in Banja Luka, veterans from Kosovo and Metohija, and dozens of families throughout the Balkans. We are also in the process of rebuilding and purchasing homes for several underprivileged families in the region.

Despite not being officially registered, our organization began humanitarian work as early as October of 2011. This upcoming fall we will begin marking this date as our 10-year anniversary. We have many special projects in store that we look forward to sharing with you in the near future!

Cerebral Palsy Association working towards improving quality of life for children with CP

Every Christian holiday brings joy with it, and this Easter joy arrived in Banja Luka and brought with it help to our little friends with cerebral palsy. Thanks to all of you that donated, we managed to make many children happy with Easter gifts, specifically selected to their grade of CP disease. Even more important was the donation of four tricycles designed for the children to train their motor skills daily and be active at the same time.

What is normal everyday life for most people, for these children, is a challenge and a fight to lead a normal life. Riding a bike for the first time in their life, with mom and dad, has now become possible for these little ones. In order to facilitate their daily physical therapy, we contacted the City Administration of the City of Banja Luka, which promised to give them one of their spaces for the Day Center for the  CPossible Association.

Milica and her best friend Lana

The story you loved so much got its happy ending and brought a new beginning to the Rackov family! The much-needed refrigerator and washing machine were purchased, bringing relief and joy to mum. Dad received a large variety of tools to assist him with his job, empowering him to do a larger variety and number of jobs, resulting in a better income for the family.
The response from the people and the wish to help the family was incredible. A new bicycle was donated for Milica so she can use it to ride to the nearest bus station, instead of walking the lengthy distance. The younger siblings were not left out, Miljana and Miljan also received bicycles. In addition, new sneakers were purchased for everyone, a brand new cupboard for the bedroom, essential food and hygiene items, and even a little pool for children! And of course, we did not forget the hero of this story, Lana the dog, who received food, toys, and a new kennel.

A new house for Dragoslav!

After our visit to little Dragoslav and his mother in January, we joined the action of building a home for this wonderful family. Weather and field conditions have finally enabled the beginning of construction near Ivanjica and their dreams are slowly being woven with your and God’s help. We donated the funds for the roof material and roof construction, concrete, Styrofoam, tiles, paint, and much more. Including furniture for the boy’s room which was completely covered by our partner JYSK. What remains for us is to encourage and follow the hard-working continuation of the home building and we eagerly await the upcoming photos of the work that we will share with all of you which made this possible!

We are deeply grateful for your constant support, as well as for your generous donations. If you want to help our most vulnerable families, please donate.
