The 28. Jun Team in Australia met with Ambassador Miroljub Petrovic on two occasions in Canberra and in Perth as our activities broaden on the continent. 28. Jun Vice President Milo Dubak & 28. Jun Treasurer – LP Corbett were honored to represent our organization at the United Nations in New York to attend the ‘ECOSOC; Committee on NGO’s, Regular Session 2018.’ We look forward to continuing to work with the UN on humanitarian initatitives in the Western Balkans.

With your support we successfully delivered Christmas presents to every Serbian child living in the enclaves of Kosovo & Metohija! Our members along with our partners, humanitarian organization 038, made deliveries to Gracanica, Badovac, Susica, Velika Hoca, Orahovac, Osojane, Brestovik, Gorazdevac, Staro Gracko, Suvi Do, Rabovce, Novo Naselje, Kuzmin, Ugljare, Kosovo Polje, Livadje, Laplje Selo, Preoce, Caglavica, Donja Gusterica, Gornja Gusterica, Dobrotin, Partes, Pasjane and Budriga.

Around 2000 children received the gift packages, which were handed out by volunteers dressed as Santa and various cartoon characters. We are extremely satisfied with the results considering the short amount of time we had to realize our ambitious goal. The reaction to the project was so positive that we pledge to make it an annual event. All photos and video of the children receiving the gifts can be viewed on our Facebook page.

Kicking off their holiday humanitarian projects, 28. Jun volunteers delivered urgent relief to two families in Kosovo today. The Stojanovic family from Gracanica received a stove, a washing machine, clothing for their six children, groceries and materials to renovate the facade and insulation in their house. While the Aleksic family from Zvecan received all the materials needed to complete the insulation and facade of their entire home. A big contribution to the realization of the project was made by Rada and Ranko Ristic from the US, the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation and all our friends and supporters.

28. Jun Serbian coordinator Aleksandra Trifunovic was touched by the experience and stated:
“When you first see the genuine happiness and surprise of people who thought their existence was forgotten, when you devote time to them, when you talk to them, in a time when Serbs in Kosovo have been forgotten and abandoned by all, you want to never leave them. When you first call a family that does not have electricity or water in the 21st century, to ask them what they need and get the answer that they have all they need, and to help someone who needs it more, it’s impossible not to be touched by such modesty. At the end, when you realize that only $20 is necessary for the feet of little children not to freeze during winter which is around the corner, you can not help but wonder why you do not help more often. Or help every day. That is why I am filled with happiness and sorrow every time I bring a donation to wonderful people on behalf of 28. Jun.”

Our youth team, ‘FK 28. Jun’, won the championship in their debut appearance at Srbijada last weekend in Chicago. We have previously partnered with the Ministry of Youth and Sport on our ‘Their Future, Our Responsibility’ project to aid vulnerable children in Serbia in 2014.

Last week we visited Strahinja, Mihajlo and Nemanja in Gracanica, 3 brave young boys who lost both their parents to tragic circumstances. Our members delivered everything on the boy’s wish list; smartphones, a tablet, a pool, school supplies and tickets to Belgrade to watch their favorite team, Partizan. Our movement was born 5 ago years with a delivery of medical supplies to Serbs in Gracanica and we pledge to continue to stand with our people living in Kosovo and Metohija.

Here are the charitable projects we completed this summer:

– We donated 3 industrial heaters to the St. Mary’s Church in Plaski, Lika – the biggest Serbian Orthodox Church outside of Serbia proper. We want to thank members of the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Sava (Kilkenny) and members of the Serbian community in Adelaide, South Australia for assisting us with this project.

– We completed our humanitarian project to equip impoverished Serbian areas with computers with a delivery of 4 desktops to the ‘Retirement Center Kragujevac’. 28. Jun Coordinator Andjelka Popov who commented; “I was happy to help out the grandmothers and grandfathers, I felt as if I helped my own.”

– Our volunteers visited the orphanage ‘Youth House Mladost’ in Herceg Novi and delivered beach towels and chocolates to all 86 children at the facility. Thank you to the celebrities who supported the project; Ceca Raznatovic, Vlado Georgiev, Emina Jahovic, Beli, Milica Pavlovic, Milica Dabovic, Bo Krsmanovic and many others!

– With your help, we managed to raise over $50,000 for Miona Kojadinovic (leukemia), Snezana Kovacevic (chronic pancreatitis), Miljana Ristic Stankovic (leukemia), and Stojan Radeka (leukemia) toward their fight against cancer and other debilitating illnesses.

28. Jun in partnership with Alfa University completed their humanitarian project to equip impoverished Serbian areas with computers with a delivery of 4 desktops to the ‘Retirement Center Kragujevac’. Dr. Vesna Randjelovic, Director of the center, toured the facilities with 28. Jun Coordinator Andjelka Popov who commented; “the visit was a great experience and the recipients were excited for their computer lab, I was happy to help out the grandmothers and grandfathers, I felt as if I helped my own.”

The project, which kicked off in Spring, focused on Central and Southern Serbia with previous deliveries being made to Elementary School ‘Braca Aksic’ in the village of Staro Gracko, Kosovo and Metohija, Elementary School ‘Zivko Tomic’ in the village of Shatornja near Topola and the Cultural Center in Leskovac. 20 computers and laptops with flat-screen monitors were donated in total.

In keeping with their Vidovdan tradition, humanitarian organization 28. Jun today announced a significant donation, this time assisted by Serbian celebrities. Ceca Raznatovic, Vlado Georgiev, Emina Jahovic, Beli, Milica Pavlovic, Milica Dabovic, Bo Krsmanovic and many others supported their project to help orphanages and centers for the disabled.

Per usual, 28. Jun donated to Serbian causes and institutions throughout the Balkans; volunteers visited the orphanage Youth House ‘Mladost’ in Herceg Novi and delivered beach towels and chocolates to all 86 children at the facility. Additionally 28. Jun donated $3,000 to Boris Malagurski’s #NoKosovoUnesco documentary in support of the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija.

The organization also announced centers for the disabled, maternity wards and Serbian Churches in Serbia, Republika Srpska and Croatia will receive donations over the next several weeks. U sklopu vidovdanske tradicije, humanitarna organizacija 28. Jun je danas najavila veliku donaciju, ovog puta uz podršku poznatih ličnosti. Cece Ražnatović, Vlado Georgieva, Emine Jahović, Belog Preletačevića, Milice Pavlović, Milice Dabović, Bo Krsmanović, kao i mnogh drugh, koji su pomogli projektu za pomoć deci bez roditelja, porodilištima i centarima za ometene u razvoju.

Kao i ranije, 28. Jun nastavlja da pomaže Srbima širom Balkana; naši volonteri su posetili “Mladost”, dom za decu bez roditelja u Herceg Novom, gde su dostavili peškire za plažu i čokolade za 86-oro dece koja tu žive. 28. Jun je takođe donirao 3000 dolara Borisu Malagurskom za njegov dokumentarni film #NoKosovoUnesco koji će biti snimljen kao podrška srpskoj zajednici na Kosovu i Metohiji.

Organizacija je takođe najavila donacije centrima za ljude ometene u razvoju, porodilištima i srpskim crkvama u Srbiji, Republici Srpskoj i Hrvatskoj u sledećih nekoliko nedelja. 28. Jun participated at the UNGA Preparatory Process Global Compact for Migration at the United Nations Office in Geneva and the Aid & Trade Conference in London last week. In Geneva we met with H.E. Mr. Juan José Gómez Camacho, Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations and H.E. Mr. Jürg Lauber, Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations. In London we met with H.E Elhadj As Sy, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majid Al Saud, Secretary General and member of the Board of Trustees at Alwaleed Philanthropies.

The events served as follow ups to the United Nations World Humanitarian Summit we attended last year in Istanbul which was convened by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. We were the only organization from the Western Balkans invited to the event which was attended by 55 Heads of State and Government. The meetings dealt with migration and optimizing humanitarian response to crises. After the events, we debriefed H.E. Petar Vico, Serbian Ambassador to the Netherlands in The Hague on our experience.

28. Jun will hold events on every continent over the next several months to celebrate our 5th year anniversary. The first took place in Shenzhen, China and the second in Perth, Australia last weekend and was attended by over 1000 people! With Australia and Asia now complete we will hold events in Europe (London) and North America (Toronto) next!
