28. Jun made a humanitarian delivery to the Sv. Petka Monastery and orphanage for the mentally disabled in Paracin this week. The facilities are home to 93 women and the staff informed 28. Jun volunteers it was “the biggest donation they ever received.”

The donation consisted of hygiene supplies and clothes. This is the first delivery under the new ‘Heart of Hope’ project to send aid to Serbian monasteries in the Balkans and the orphanages, shelters and food kitchens they oversee. 28. Jun has partnered up with the Serbian Orthodox Church to hold fundraisers in the diaspora to send aid to those in need in the home country.

The container in Toronto was loaded on Tuesday and the container in Chicago was loaded on Thursday, they will travel by ship and reach the Red Cross who are accepting the aid in about 1 month time.

28. Jun received an ‘Recognition of their contribution and achievements in humanitarian work‘ award from The Tesla Science Foundation at the 200th anniversary event of Serbs arrivng to North America in Philadelphia.

28. Jun flies in the first 30 tons of aid into Belgrade with distribution of that aid already underway by the Red Cross. 28. Jun members are in the effected areas overseeing the distribution of the aid. With the shipment about half of all the aid in North America which includes hygiene supplies, medical equipment and cleaning supplies needed for post-flood recovery has been sent. The total value of the aid we have delivered or are in the process of delivering has been independently appraised at $1.5 mil.

Over 100 tons of humanitarian aid, valued at over $1.5 million, is now ready for partners at the Serbian Red Cross to distribute to the thousands of flood victims in need of food, clothing and general hygiene products.

“Food, medical supplies and hygiene products are in desperate need on the ground and a shipment of this quantity would help immensely,” said Ljubomir Miladinovic, head of International Relations Department at the Red Cross of Serbia.

Humanitarian not-for-profit organization, 28 Jun, has gathered product donations from brands including Gatorade, Target, Walmart and Huggies and Canadian brands  including Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall and Loblaw’s. First flood relief containers arrive to Belgrade from Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, the UK and Germany via truck.

28. Jun is in cooperation with representatives of the Serbian government to collect and ship material donations from North America. Chicago and Toronto are the central locations from which all aid will be sent.

28. Jun organizes global response to 2014 Southeast Europe floods with online campaign and donation centers all over Europe, North America and Australia.

28. Jun announced the start of their third charitable project ‘Their Future, Our Responsibility’ which will center around helping vulnerable children.

The initiative will focus on building and renovating schools, delivering clothes and other necessities to orphanages and centers for children with developmental disabilities and holding sport camps for youths with mental impediments.

The ambitious project will be accomplished in partnership with the Serbian Red Cross, the Ana & Vlade Divac Foundation and the Serbian Tennis Federation as well as the support of the Serbian Minister of Youth & Sports Vanja Udovicic. Serbian celebrities including Ceca, Vlado Georgiev, Sasa Kovacevic and athletes Ivana Spanovic and Aleksandar Sapic, among others, showed their support via social media.

Our fifth and final delivery of the ‘Srpske Zemlje, Srpski Rod’ project consisting of advanced medical equipment and other medical supplies was donated to the Medical Center in Nis, which is the main hospital for all of Southern Serbia. Director of the Center, Zoran Radovanovic, said that he, in agreement with the organization, sent them a list of what materials would benefit the hospital.

“This the end of an action which we worked on more than a year and a half, and the value of materials and equipment, although the official declaration says $400,000, would be more than EUR 500,000 on the domestic market. We got needles, scissors and the like, in an amount that will settle our compelling needs for several months” said Radovanovic.
